Tony Jaa vs. Scott Adkins

This isn’t a VS of who would win in a fight because CLEARLY Scott Adkins would wipe the floor with Tony Jaa. This is more of “Who’s Movies Suck The Least” type of article. Both actors have pretty damn bad movies. The only redeeming qualities of both careers are the awesome fight scenes that take up the bulk of their movies.

Tony Jaa has the Ong Bak series…which started off as a movie about underground street fighting and stolen ancient artifacts. The last 2 movies had absolutely nothing to with the first one at all. In fact the last 2 movies take place in a different era and have 0 to do with anything. It was a pretty terrible movie that….was just a flat out disaster.

The Protector was about stolen elephants and the second one took a Hangover 2 blueprint and made the plotline about stolen elephants. Equally a terrible pair of movies in their own right.

Scott Adkins filled our screens with…..I guess Ninja was his big series. Also Undisputed was kinda good, but it was still pretty bad as well. Adkins was the villain in that movie and still the villain in the second one, but was the good character by process of elimination. Bad characters surrounded by worse character I guess.

You know what…..I don’t know where I’m going with this one. Both actors have amazing martial arts skills, but waste their talents on terrible bit movies that usually come straight to DVD. They need better agents if anything.

I guess Adkins had the better career because I’m in America. His movies are easier to find than Jaa’s. I guess if I lived in Korea or China…..or Thailand (just to be safe) where Jaa’s movies come out then it would be easier to find his movies.

Nobody wins this one.

How I Think The Big Bang Theory Will End

I think realistically the Big Bang Theory has about 3 season left. But maybe a handful of episodes with actual significance. I can already see the show on the downswing and now it’s time to start planning for the ending. I had an idea of where this show is going and I think it’s a pretty solid ending that will bring the show full circle.

Raj is the only character that has a simple ending. He finds a woman who he is happy with, but his storyline isn’t the make or break of the final seasons. The same for Howard and Bernadette. The only thing for these three characters is to continue on their paths.

Howard’s mother may die just to give him some extra screen moments and make his character carry a few episodes. Maybe Bernadette gets pregnant, but I hope not.

Penny needs to get a movie role. The writers need to get her back to acting and auditioning for parts. Right now Penny is working at a job with Bernadette and it’s not really making the story move. It looks to be a more settling role for her character and they need to start spicing it up. When Penny gets a movie role, I can see Leonard going with her for the filming of it.

The KEY is Sheldon and Amy. I can see Amy getting pregnant the first time they have sex. From the emergence of Amy’s character, Sheldon has been making changes in his life. Now they are a couple and making progress.

Eventually they will have sex and when they do it will be a perfect scenario for Sheldon to move in with Amy. Leonard has to move out with Penny when they get married. So what better way to make sure that Leonard and Sheldon have to stop becoming roommates than a child.

Maybe a tearful ending where Leonard and Sheldon are in the delivery room. Sheldon’s of course freaking out as usual because he’s in a hospital and Leonard is trying to keep him calm. They talk a bit before the nurse asks Sheldon to come see his child and he gives Leonard a big hug and says “Thank you,”.

This is an idea that can work. The writers are wasting too much time with no important storylines like the guys buying a dinner table. Just a waste of time. The show is starting to go stale quickly and they need to find some way to make things better. Yes it will still be a hit, but a hit that is mostly a few funny parts an episode and that’s it.

Guardians Of The Galaxy

My God this movie looks awful. I don’t like to start off a post being that negative, but I really hate seeing the trailers of this movie. It looks to be a terrible movie. The direction looks horrible and the characters are so unlikable that there doesn’t look to be many redeeming qualities to this movie. My biggest problem is that the characters look so dumb. I mean there is a raccoon with a machine gun, a tree, and just other random people.

Yes I know all I have to go on is the trailer, but the trailers really do set the tone for a movie. The only reason I might see this movie is because it ties into the Avengers and the Thanos saga. So I’m very hypocritical in my article because I will end up seeing this movie at one point.

So I’ll be writing my full review on this movie when I see it. Guardians of the Galaxy comes out August 1st, so…..who knows how it’ll turn out.

NBA Draft Recap

Due to previously scheduled articles, this evaluation of the NBA draft might not be correct due to the trades that might’ve happened after. But as of June 27 I will be using that list of players to teams to write my evaluation.     I do believe this is one of the deepest drafts ever and think that most players in the first round will make an immediate impact.

I will be going player by player in the first round only and talk about what impact they will have on the court and in the rotation.

Who would’ve imagined that angels would be humanity’s greatest threat? Based off the movie Legion (2010), Dominion takes place 25 years after the events of that movie. The opening sequence of Dominion explains all the backstory. God has vanished. In retaliation Gabriel and his angels blamed humanity for Gods disappearance and came to Earth to wage war against man. There were some higher angels that refused to go along with Gabriel’s war, but the lower angels joined immediately.

Michael refused to blame the humans and took up his sword against Gabriel. Eventually, Michael gathered enough survivors on Earth to help combat Gabriel and his forces. There was a prophesied child that Michael believed that would be the turning point in the war that he had to save (this was the story of Legion). After a long war, Gabriel’s army retreated, but many angels still remained on Earth and the battle continues.

The problem is after all those backstory sequences; the show surprisingly takes a huge turn for the worst. Most situations and subplots are so unbelievable that they completely crucify this show. The dialogue is so cheesy that it’s a turn off to listen to at times. Motives and story structure is at such a fault that I can’t imagine how the season will progress (if it even lasts a full season).

Alex Lannen, the prophesied child that Michael saves in Legion, is a soldier living in Vegas. The whole city is a militarized outpost. There are clearly angels outside the city walls, yet Lannen still goes out by himself to do the cliché “lone gunman” thing. After a firefight with angels, Lannen is asked why he went out alone. His response “There was a Texas holdem game I had to attend”.

There is a Roman aspect to this show. The marrying off of children to strengthen political families is so unneeded that it takes away from the overwhelming plot point of THERE ARE ANGELS TRYING TO KILL US! Also some of the outfits of the women is just so obscure that it makes it look like this show takes place in a different era.

Most of this pilot episode was a collection of unneeded scenes and occurrences. The whole war storyline seems to be only a subplot of the entire storyline. Obviously the war is the biggest part, but it didn’t seem like that from the initial pilot episode.

I give this show a shocking 1/5. The ceiling was incredibly high, but failed to deliver. Unless this show makes drastic changes, I don’t see it lasting very long. I’m pretty sure most of the season is already filmed because after the show it had scenes from the upcoming season, so I don’t think an overhaul is what is going to happen. Domination is on SYFY on Thursdays at 9pm.

Marvel Agents Of Shield

This show has found a way to fail in the first 2 episodes. The whole concept is flawed and not unique at all. The writers were given the keys to a Marvel universe filled with hundreds of interesting heroes that they could’ve used for this show. Instead the writers assembled a collection of young rejects to center this shows plot around.

Now I understand the show is called Agents of Shield so these characters aren’t superheroes. They are more like Black Widow and Hawkeye, agents who are skilled in different areas and find ways to solve problems. The biggest problem is “who cares”. There are tons of shows with normal people solving abnormal problems.

The last episode they fought commandos in a Spanish speaking country….or something like that. We want super hero battles! We want to see Marvel characters brought from the comics to the big screen! Now I’m not saying the Hulk has to make guest appearances, but at least touch upon Marvel situations. The first episode had a situation from Iron Man 3, which was cool, but after episode 2 there were no supers.

The show isn’t believable. Not the situations, but the characters. They are all random and inexperienced. Also too young. Most are just nerds who found their way in the show somehow. There is only one Agent character and he is busy being the tough guy with commitment and emotional issues.

Agent Coulson is back from the dead. They solved that problem with the line “I wasn’t really dead” and that solved that problem.

To make the show a hit is very easy. ADD MARVEL CHARACTERS! One episode have Iron Fist and go along with him as he fights ninjas. Oh no Dr. Strange needs out help! Here comes She-Hulk! Those are just 3 ideas. Anything better than they are flying and fighting regular people. Unless the people are Red Skull supporters and Baron Zemo is here, then nobody cares.

I love Marvel and want this show to last along time. In a perfect world it would tie in with the Avengers movies, but that would be too perfect.

I give the show a sad 2/5 and the 2 is for the hope I have that they can turn it around.

End As Badly As It Started

The new and final season of Showtime’s hit show Dexter had a bad start. I was highly disappointed with the direction the writers took and after the episode ended I doubt this season will be worth watching.

From the first few moments I was disappointed. The episode didn’t start off from when the last season ended. It started off 6 months later! Really? You couldn’t write a continuation of the last episode where LaGuerta was killed? You couldn’t show them framing the dead man and then running off.

This is how I would’ve started off this season. Dexter and Deb went to the party and THEN they would get a call about LaGuerta. Imagine how Deb would react to investigating a crime scene that just a few hours ago she fired the gun that killed LaGuerta. Imagine Dexter doing blood splatter reports and showing how she was killed. You would have flashbacks to the actual murder in the scene. That would be a great way to start off the season.

The way they did it made it look like they ran out of ideas. There is no reason to go so far in the future when we were left at the edge of our seat last season. The fans wanted more than a simple explanation of what happened and a quick montage.  There isn’t much interesting going on. Deb is of course taking it badly. She is on drugs and has a new job as a bounty hunter.

After an odd murder a new character is revealed to help the police catch the killer. We don’t know much about her yet, but she is an expert in serial killers. Dr. Evelyn Vogel reveals at the end of the episode that she knows of Dexter and his past. Just another thing that is too perfect to be random. I can see her playing a big part in the end, but her motives aren’t clear yet.

This season isn’t going to go well if the first episode was any indication. I give it an early 2/5. Yes, after my reaction to the first episode I really don’t have much faith in the writers and direction the show is going.
